Autogenics
shifts your mental state from
a passive stance - one that
allows the outside world a lot
of control - to a more inner,
self-directed attitude that
recognizes the validity of
your own inner authority. By
doing so, many people report
they have increased feelings
of self-esteem, worthiness and
joy.
Autogenics has been used for
preventive and post-treatment
of substance abuse for all
ages, incontinence, basic
learning skills, stress
management and pain control.
Autogenics can help you learn
and feel how the mind and body
work together.
Autogenics
is a relaxation technique
involving a series of
attention-focusing exercises
designed to induce relaxation
and enhance the body's
self-healing powers.
Originally developed by a
German psychiatrist, Johannes
Schultz, and published in
1932, this is a daily
practice, designed to induce a
state of relaxation. Similar
to self-hypnosis and
meditation its purpose is to
enable people to learn how to
put themselves in a relaxed
state releasing muscle tension
and dealing with anxiety
independently.
Autogenic training helps you
learn to keep your autonomic
nervous system in balance,
thereby avoiding getting stuck
in the overactive state that
leads to anxiety, insomnia,
exhaustion, or other stress
related conditions.
Individual training or group
classes are available to teach
you how to perform this
technique. Generally it
requires between 8 and 12
weeks, with 1 to 2 hour
sessions weekly to develop the
technique of passive
concentration. While a
powerful technique, it is not
the answer to everything. It
can be conveniently and
harmoniously combined with
other therapeutic techniques
to help enhance the effects.

Tension
is who you think you should
be. Relaxation is who you are.
